Assisted inspiration needed :-P

Almost a month since the clinical students migrated to Mater Dei and almost a month since my last proper post on this blog... time really flies !

Despite being very lazy on the blog front, I did find the time to compile a short article for InSite, regarding the RCSI medical school issue. I must confess I am not an avid reader of InSite (or any other student publication, for that matter) but it does have quite a large audience and the more people that know about the issue, the better it is !!!

On the same topic (the proposition, not my silly article !), I heard that the ministry of education has yet to sign the RCSI agreement. Does anybody know if this is true and what are the reasons behind it ? Is it a true victory of the UoM or just a political trick, due to the forthcoming election ?

Last but not least : as most of you should have noticed by now, posts are becoming more and more scarce as time goes by. This is not due to a loss of interest, but due to a lack of both time and inspiration. And while there's nothing you can do about the former, you can help me with the latter by suggesting topics or sending questions... So go on and click that "publish your comment" button ! You know you want to !!!

Di-ve.com
seem to have reported the signing of a Memorandum of understanding, as have
the Times
. This presumably just means that they've agreed to talk. Time will tell.

Regarding the request of our 1st year colleague :

If you are referring to the January 'tests', don't bother studying anything specifically for them, since they don't count towards your grade and won't appear on your transcript.

If you are referring to the June progress tests, you have to study everything that has been covered (or, in some cases, even mentioned) in the lectures and tutorials.

This is certainly not an easy task, but, if you want to remain sane, focus on the basics and feel free to ignore small details.

I can't really provide more specific guidelines, but most lecturers do tend to point out the subjects which they consider most important. And if not, you can always check past papers.

Re the MOU with RCSI, I think it is telling how little it actually says. When you think that these guys have been toing and froing from Dublin for months, and judging by the tone of the previous press releases on this issue, my take is that the government of malta is stalling. I doubt if anything will be finalised before the elections. You never know, the government might been realising now that this RCSI deal is not in Malta's best interests. I think your blog and the pressure by MMSA had some effect. Keep it up!
